Good little sheep. No, it seems we go to "Hell" for using our brains. At least that's what they tell me!

LOL...
*falls over*
*still laughing*
*picks self up off floor*
*knows that IF there is a hell I will be on that bus but it's OK because I will be in good company*
I think you actually put that more succinctly than I could have ever thought possible.
I have long wondered the same thing I finally came to the conclusion that it is a very selective use of those brains that keeps them from understanding some very basic concepts that you would think any normal person would easily comprehend.
Anyway...
Thanks for the chuckle and for the food for thought!

I love this question and is one of the most intelligent things that has been asked on this site. I think religion has created a 'sheep' like mentality which isn't necessarily bad. But encourages people to follow (even if it is the wrong thing), than to question.
Many people and many answers I expect will put forward the idea that you should 'believe' first and 'think' secondly
However, religion has caused so much destruction by people who do not 'think'.
Following blindly does not necessarily lead to the right thing or God (if you ascribe to this idea).
People who follow religion blindly and refuse to think, I hope would not go straight to hell (if there is a hell), but perhaps do need to enhance their lives by adding reason to their belief system, or maybe they would go straight to hell....lol
"I do not think that it is necessarily the case that science and religion are natural opposites. In fact, I think that there is a very close connection between the two. Further, I think that science without religion is lame and, conversely, that religion without science is blind. Both are important and should work hand-in-hand."

Often people arrive at different conclusions but this isn't to say they haven't used their brains. But theres also a problem with pride. We can elivate our own reasoning abilities beyond it's capacity but not want to admit it. I do think at times some might want to be lazy and allow others to think for them, but this problem can exist on any side of any position.

Funny you should ask. In the Quran Allah tells us to use our brains and simply to not follow others like sheep. I don't think it's a sin unless of course it leads to one doing a sin. In either case Allah forgives if one asks and repents.

He would think the same thing that we think. Put a cork in their mouth, I don't want to hear it.
