Catholics are Christians. Many non-Catholics have a problem with the Catholic practice of praying to the Virgin Mary and the Saints. However, I've never heard anyone go so far as to say that Catholics aren't Christians because of this.

Ok, let me make a long story short...If you study early Christian history you'll find an interesting fact. An emporer of Rome named Constantine decided to become Christian and wanted the entire empire to follow. He took all the pagan articles/traditions/belief systems and put 'Christian' name-tags on them. This made it easy for the pagans to 'convert.' Unfortunately, he couldn't stick around for some reason and gave temporal power of the empire to the head bishop of his 'new' Christianity (nothing to do with the origional). This bishop became what is now known as a pope and the new 'paganized Christianity' became the Roman Catholic Church. You can find all this in perfect detail at the following website or simply in any religious historical text. No, Papal (Catholic) doctrine is not true Christianity and completely unbiblical.

It really depends upon whom you ask. In the academic sense of the word, a Christian is anyone who accepts Jesus as the Messiah. By this definition, Catholics are Christians. However, different denominations of Christianity feel that there are certain beliefs about God which one needs to have to be considered a Christian, and that the Catholics do not meet them. Personally, I sit on the first side of the fence in that respect. Catholics are Christians.

Yes. Catholicism is a sort of denomination of Christianity. As another reviewer stated, not all Christians are Catholics, but all Catholics are Christians.

Christians are those who follow the words of Jesus Christ without adding or omitting even a single period or comma in it. Catholics said Jesus was born on Dec. 25 which is not based on the bible. They changed a lot of original doctrines of Christ and added plenty of unbiblical teachings so I might say that they are not Christians anymore.

All Catholics are Christians, but not all Christians are Catholic.

That is to say, Roman Catholicism is one of many Abrahamic messianic sects that recognize Jesus as their savior.

Catholics are christian, just one branch of it. In America, Catholics have been associated with lower class, early 1900's immigration.
