Here are a some must-haves:

The Dark is Rising Sequence by Susan Cooper: A series of five books that she will love. These books have won many awards and I think at least two have won the Newbury Medal.

The books are about the efforts of three regular kids, a boy who is the last of the "old ones" and others who fight to keep the Dark (evil) from rising one final time and taking over the earth. Set in Great Britain.
The titles are:
Over Sea, Under Stone
The Dark is Rising
Greenwitch
The Grey King
Silver on the Tree

Another series of interest is the "So You Want to be a Wizard?" books by Diane Duane. The most recent titles start to explore dating and such so you might want to start with the earlier books.

The series focuses on two kids who become friends and wizards after each finds a book entitled "So You Want to Be a Wizard?"
The books can only be seen by special people who can become wizards. The kids become friends and save the world from being blotted out by the forces of darkness after an epic battle.

The first three books are
So You Want to Be a Wizard
High Wizardry
Deep Wizardry.

Next up is the Wrinkle in Time books by Madeleine L'Engle. Although not wizard books, they are magical in every way. This is another series that has won many awards including the Newbury.
Noteable titles include:
A Wrinkle in Time where Meg, brother Charles and friend Calvin travel with three magical beings to a planet where Meg and Charles's father is being held captive. This is the book that starts the series.
A Wind in the Door
A Swiftly Tilting Planet
Many Waters

Your library should have copies of all of these books, so you can peek at them and see if they look like they would suit her and her reading level.

I don't want to take up the whole question page :) so I will stop with these. If you want ideas for single titles, add a note at the bottom of your question. As you can tell from my screen name, I'm pretty passionate about books.

OOPs--almost forgot some animal books:
Horse books:
My Friend Flicka (please get the original and not the new one which changes the story around.)
King of the Wind
Misty of Chincoteague
Justin Morgan Had a Horse
The Black Stallion series

All Enid Blyton books are great! I read them when I was 9 or 10 and I really enjoyed them and collected them all. Also some funny books are from Andy Griffiths and Paul Jennings who are great writers so check them out too!
