Dating a lovely man, but both of us recently burnt in relationships so we're cautious but attraction is fierce. I ask what he is thinking about us and he says he wants to leave things as is. I admit i'm not sure what as is means, and he just says again as is. I'm a chicken so leave it be and we talk about other things but I decide he must be saying goodbye. But now I'm doubting, did he mean goodbye or just that he didn't want to move to the next stage but wanted to keep seeing me?

To me it means leaving things in status quo.

I am going to be bold here and ask you these questions:

:: If you just came out from a relationship and have been burned from it, why do you want to jump into another even if it is just a casual dating?

:: Don't you think instead of going on a date with this "lovely" man as you so aptly put it, you need to spend time to be alone and be single for the meantime in order to heal from your last relationship?

:: What made you think that you can get over and move on through casual dating where you will still have to invest your time and energy?

:: And if in case, you have been healed already, why do you want to be with someone who cannot be in the same level as you are?

Physical attraction can only get you a short-term satisfaction, no matter how fierce it is.

In the long run, both of you would want something more out of what you currently have. And if you did not come to terms with that now, there is no point in getting involved with each other even if no serious commitment has been made.

Well, keep in mind: if a man asks you to marry him, your reply must be "sure" or "no". Instead, you mentioned "while"; that suggests you are in view that it, however you are now not in a position but. So, he replied in form: "after we're in a position", because of this "while YOU are in a position, and he will wait patiently meanwhile." Or, it would be that you've got each talked approximately being too younger to get married, and so he has no goal of marrying you but (and is aware of you would not do it both) however needs to converse to you that correct now he could marry you in the event you have been each in a position.

whatever you guys are he wants it too keep it that way. NO going further or anything. For ex: if you are just friends he just wants to keep it that way. If you guys are girl boy friends then he does not want to get married. that is what i got out of it.
