The title of Maid of Honor is for an unmarried lady
The title of Matron of Honor is for a married lady
Same duties, just different titles
It use to be that a Maid was a virgin, and a Matron a married lady,,,,but,,,times change.
Good Luck
PS
Brides Maids use to be used for virgins too...but, I go along with the "dont ask..dont tell" idea on that one too.

I was the Matron of honor, means I was married, I was the female version of the best man.. the maid of honor was NOT married, she signed the certificat as a witness... you can do and have what ever you like.. all the brides maids can be married or not, it is NO big deal.. the only person who can NOT be married is the BRIDE, *wink*, until at least the *I dos'* are said !!!!! God bless

This no longer applies to weddings.
A maid of honor is a single woman. A matron of honor is a married woman. You choose whomever you wish, I have even seen men standing up for a bride before.

It doesn't matter. The maid of honor and the bridesmaids can be married or not, it just depends on who your friends are. But usually when the maid of honor is married, she would be called a matron of honor.

The bridesmaids can be married or not. A maid of honor is unmarried, and she is called a matron of honor if she is already married. You can choose whoever you want to be by your side on this special day. It doesn't matter whether they are married or not, choose people you really love and want to be with you.

ok - it would help to comprehend extra approximately your rite. many times the maid or matron of honor is the guy who stands next to you throughout the time of the rite and holds your plant life etc. She is likewise in charge for issues like offering management for the activities best as much as the marriage like a bathtub and serving as witness. you're able to have 2 matrons of honor. Matron shows that a girl is married, maid that she isn't. So calling a matron a maid is variety or weird and wonderful yet you ought to do it or you ought to easily have 2 matrons in case your rite will enable for it. Or, you ought to chew the bullet and tell your closest buddy which you like her yet that your sister buddy has to have the function of matron and you desire she is familiar with. it is your wedding ceremony, you are the queen. desire this enables.

Usually the maid of honor is not married and the matron of honor is married but today and times it probably does not matter anymore. So have it how ever you want to.

A Maid of Honour is unmarried. If she is married, she is a Matron of Honour. These days it doesn't matter if the bridesmaids are married or not, that tradition is gone.

I was always told that the maid of honour was the only married bridesmaid. But it doesn't really matter today. I think the bridal party is about involving your closest friends and your siblings.

The Maid of Honor is not married...hence the "maid"...if your honor attendant is married, then she is called a Matron of Honor.
