Yes, you can talk directly to God, and you should. No one can take your thoughts to God the way you can, and He wants to hear from you, as much and as often as you want to talk to Him.

Depends on the situation. We are told to pray for each other! I think it is because different people have different gifts of the spirit. For example; If a person needs a healing he may not have the faith in God to recieve what he needs. But there may be someone who does have that gift that can pray for him to be healed and it will come to pass. The church was designed for that reason. We need each other! if we didn't there would have only been Adam all by hiself. There would be no need for a church cause you wouldn't need them. Every child of God has gifts. Some may be able to cast out devils. Some may have the gift of prophesy. It differs from person to person.

You don't need anyone to stand in for you, you can go to GOD yourself. Now there are times that people do pray for others in cases where others may be lost or don't have a personal relationship with God and even those that aren't able to pray for themselves.

The Bible says the Holy Spirit intercedes for us on our behalf when we do not know what to pray for. That statement makes it clear that you and I are perfectly able to pray to God directly. Also the Bible says there is only one mediator between God and man and that is His Son Jesus Christ. When we pray to God, I believe we are praying to the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost which are all three one God. I find nothing in scripture which supports the idea that one person is more worthy to pray to God over another. I hope you find peace and comfort in this. I will remember you in my prayers this evening.

I completely agree with Ling. I don't think you need someone to pray for you when you can talk to God yourself (that is that you prescribe to the idea of a God).
However, praying itself, for example, worship, I don't think is for God, it is to remind us to be humble, not to boost God's ego.
In the same way, by people praying for you, it helps remind those people that you are in a time of need.
But it also by praying for other people makes you realize that there are people in just as much or more need than you. Helping you to put their life into perspective.

Pretty good question.
I'll answer from Islamic viewpoint, as I am a Muslim.
It is true that whoever calls God, He listens but He may or may not answer. Or He may provide with something else than what is asked.
In Islam, it is stated that supplications of a devoted Muslim, who doesn't do major sins and tries his/her best to abide by Islam, are accepted faster than any other. For this, a Muslim may ask other superior Muslims to pray for him/her.

You just answered your own question.
Mary and the saints do not have to sleep, or have worldly concerns - so many ask them to pray to GOD when they can't.
As they made it to heaven - they are the example of how to get there.

Of course you can talk to God directly. And one does't need to have someone to pray for them. It's just that it does help if, aside from yourself, others or somebody with a good heart is helping you pray for whatever it is that you ask from God. :)

Yes, you can talk to God yourself. I don't think that God needs someone in between to interpret. When someone prays for you, they are usually someone who cares about you and wants God to know that they care about you.

Who told you that ? Email, let me know, please.
Well, I have known religions that teach that. Honestly, they are teachings ways of the Anti Christ. It's not funny at all, they are trying to make you think that they are the only way to speak to God.
If you study the Bible, which I hope you either do, or will soon start, you would know that we are supposed to have a private, discreet, presonal relationship with God- alone, behind closed doors.
I suggest you leave those people/ religion that told you that far behind. - And try to find a religion that makes sense/ follows what the Bible teaches.
Read :
Matthew 23:13-15 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)
13But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
14Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.
15Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
The Pharisees did this, and so does big, popular religions today. The Pharisees also publicly, loudly said prayers in public, in front of large groups of people.
