Experts on cats/kittens only!!!?

Question

Okay, I have two questions
1) I have been told that if you accidently swallow/eat a cat hair you die.... is that true?
2) If you have a kitten how can you tell if its a female or male?

This is hardly "Very Important". Where can you get a Persian kitten for under $100? NOWHERE. Pedigreed kittens of any breed START at around $600. And if $100 is all you have what about the $300-$400 for altering, shots and everything else? You could possibly find an adult Persian at a shelter - they do show up occasionally. They're there because people don't research all the work they require and then dump them once the coat gets matted. That being said, do you realize they need to be combed - not brushed - at least EVERY OTHER DAY ALL YEAR LONG? Persians are wonderful cats but don't adopt one unless you will dedicate the time needed to care for one. Also look up PKD - I'm sure you don't have a clue what that is, either. And if you end up buying a kitten from some horrible backyard breeder it could end up PKD+ and dropping dead in just a couple of years.

I can only answer question number 1
No you will not die from eating cat hairs, this is a myth
I know becauses I have 3 cats and I'm still alive even though everywhere I turn there are cat hairs, one of my cats even tries to sleep on my face so I know I have swallowed more than my fair share

1) No. You would only have to worry if you were allergic to cats, and even then a hair would be too small to do much more than cause a slight allergic reaction is most cases.

2) Male cats have a penis and testes, female cats don't. Look for this below the tail just the other side of their anus. All calico cats are female.

ok to the first question NO ihave two cats and i have swallowed many cat hairs trust me. unless your allergic which you might get a reaction i don't think it would be fatal.

for the second question there are two holes in the rear if they are close together it a girl father apart its a boy. but the younger they are the harder it is to tell.

You will not die from eating a cat hair....I promise. To check the sex of a kitten...of course look under the tail. You will se a dot, and under that you will see either another dot, or a tiny slit. The top dot is the anus. If there is another dot below it, then you have a little boy. If you see a tiny slit (you really have to look closely its quite small) that is the vagina, of course, a girl. That thin about swallowing cat hair is an old folk tale dont worry about that.
if you pull up that cats tail and look you should see a male part or if it looks like nothing is there pretty much than you have yourself a girl.

1) NO you will not die..just a old wives tale... you swallow/eat alot of things that you would not believe on a daily basis..spiders etc...

2) take it to the Vet... if it is "old enough" the vet will be able to FEEL, not necessarily SEE what the sex of the kitten is.it will need vaccines anyway... smile

No, you will not die , it's a old wise tail. And you can tell it's a male kitten is that it will have a ball where he does his business and a female dosen't have one. Hope this helps and god bless.
