I don't know where you're getting this. I seriously doubt it has anything to do with age but more the person. My husband and father in law are both "older men" and absolutely love our cats. My dad is older and 9 cats.

One reason - older men are more likely to be suited professionals who have learned the importance of immaculate clothing.

I had never seen our distinguished and beloved senior pastor lose his cool until he made a visit to my home and my cat rubbed up against his ankles, leaving white hairs on his dark wool trousers. Then, when he got up and began vigorously to brush his trouser legs, he realized he had hairs on the seat of his pants. There is nothing in my house that does not have cat hairs on it.

I felt sorry for him because I am sure he had other calls to make, but seeing the expression on his face was, as the saying goes, "priceless."

Because they are the ones that have had to replace;
the carpets because the cats ruined it.
the sofa, same reason.
the recliner, same reason.
the bedding in the master bedroom, same reason.
the $350 leather jacket, same reason.
The dining table, you guessed it! Same reason.
The end tables, the bed sash, the antique furniture, the drapes, the curtains, the computer cords, the Rockford Fozgate speakers, the phone lines, the hardwood floors...THE SAME DAMN REASON! How about the hair balls on his favorite shirt!
Or the puck on his shoes? The scratches on the paint on his classic Mustang! The lack of sleep from all the fighting at night. Waking up in the morning with the damn thing sleeping on your face! The smell in his truck from the blasted cat spraying the seats! The cat crap on his best pair of pants! The dresser drawer that the kittens were born in. With all those silk ties!

Need I say more?

Now anymore questions?

Older men dislike most things with the exception of younger women.

My husband loves cats and he's middle age (If you want to call that old). He brought a little starving stray kitten home about a year ago, and she's been a beloved pet ever since! I don't think it's an age thing.

A cat can be a substitute for lacking love - a well-known secret, which not everyone is prepared to admit.
