Loosing one of my children

The worst pain I have seen is how most Americans will die. It begins with some major trauma, such as a hernia, going untreated. This is often due to the doctors refusing to do surgery until a patient loses a certain amount if weight.
Next comes type 2 diabetes, and then brathing problems. Each time an infection comes, it gets harder to fight it. At some point you get placed on a breathing machine, and from then on you are stuck. Internal organs grow septic and continue an infection which you cannot fight off.
You are left (for much of the day) with others like yourself, stuck in some medical facility for people in the same condition. Basically they are there to treat you until you die. Unless you are fortunate to have someone who will visit, a small TV becomes your best friend, and your only friend.
Pretty much, modern medicine can keep you alive, but they cannot define the quality of life. This is why it is important to have a DNR form, with the clear, precise details on when it should be applied. I have heard of some people becoming enraged by people taken off machines. I thought that was bad, until I met someone on a machine for 10 months.

I thought I'd experienced pain until I gave birth. That is truly an unbelievable pain experience. It's so painful that you puke and pee (or more) and scream. You can't think, you can't breathe, and it's so bad that a lot of women don't even remember it because your brain just has to shut out the memory.

Burns. My husband sustained 3rd degree burns on both his legs from the knees down. Being in the medical field I have seen lots of pain, but burns are the worst. My husband asked one of the nurses who was in the burn unit what was worse: burns or child delivery. She said the labor "didn't hold a candle" to the burns.

I've got enough chronic pain, I stay clear of fire/burns!

One, I had a nine-day migraine, and I couldn't walk, I couldn't stand any light, I couldn't eat, and the pain was unbearable. Nothing helped. It was the worst thing ever.

Seeing your children cry....and not the whiny kind of kids either that do it all the time. I mean when they're really hurt or upset about something. It hurts more than anything!
