I study in ancient history and biblical history.I am also a Christian. There are so many new old things that they are finding. The Gospel of Judas has been confirmed authentic. The only thing I can say about Judas is, he was part of a plan, how do we know how GOD felt about him.Jesus had to be crucified in this task so why couldn't Judas have to betray Jesus? I don't know, I have my Christian beliefs and my studies, the jury is out on this one. GOD bless

Rediscovered in short it is a fraud written to promote Gnosticism.
During the second and third centuries AD, various semi-Christian and non-Christian groups composed texts which are loosely labelled as New Testament Apocrypha, usually but not always in the names of apostles, patriarchs or other persons mentioned in the Old Testament, New Testament or older Jewish apocryphal literature . The gospel of Judas is one of these texts and is so described by the only two references to it in antiquity.
Due to textual analysis for features of dialect and Greek loan words, academics who have analysed the Gospel of Judas believe that it is probably a translation from an older Greek manuscript dating to approximately AD 130–180

what if someone wrote a report on the assassination of JFK, saying he was killed with a bow and arrow...a couple centuries from now? not too sure that'd fly. no....ppl who were actually there are still alive today. the time to write the reports on his death has long passed. those other gnostic gospels were written at least 2 centuries after the fact.

also, many of the gnostic gospels were actually written under pen names. pen names to try to drum up the authority that the real authors didn't have.

the 27 books of the NT were circulating and were revered by the early churches while the ppl who actually witnessed Christ's resurrection were still alive. all of the NT documents had to be:
1.) Authoritative
2.) Apostolic (Apostle = one who actually witnessed the resurrection)
3.) In harmony with accepted doctrine.

I'd say that the gospel of judas was ignored by the catholics....this has justified their hate for Jews for almost 1700 years. Sad, isn't it? Now how bout the gospel of magdalene and the council of nicea nonsense?
