3 With the installation of windows you already have at least direct x 8

i agree with everyone else, WHY WOULD YOU WANNA DO THAT? it makes no sence, are you wanting to downgrade? that isn't possiable, besides everytime you install windows update it will put back the newer version, most programs you run off CD require the neewest version. there is no point in uninstalling something that you will just have to reinstall later.

It's not a good idea. It's possible though. Utilities have been created. Why would you do this though is a better question.

start, control panel , add/remove programs, then select directx and unistall

you can't. Its integral to almost anything you're running with graphics and sound. Why would you want to anyways?
