What is the best way to clean my Golden Retriever's ears?

I cannot take her to the groomer's this month and want to do it myself.

There's this stuff called pan-Otic that works great.

Just squirt it in the ear, rub the ear around for a few seconds, then you can just use a few Q-Tips to finish off the cleaning.

The direct link is below.

P.S. the person saying DON'T use a Q-tip is incorrect because since a dog's ear is L-shaped there is NO chance you can hit their ear drum with a q-tip.

The best type of cleaner to get is from your veterinarian. It may be a bit pricey, but the types you can get from there are much better than anything from a pet store (take my word on this). Take a regular sized cotton ball and lightly saturate (not dripping) it with ear cleaner, insert it a little ways into the dog's ear, so that is sits partially in the inner part of the dog's ear. Grab the outside of the ear and gently message it, so that it starts breaking up all the ear gunk. Do this for about a minute, then pull the cotton ball out and depending on how dirty the ears are, there will be all kinds of stuff sticking to the cotton ball. You will want to take additional dry cotton balls and wipe out the excess ear dirt, careful to not push the dirt back down into the ear. Hope this helps!

Get a solution made for inside the ear. Squirt in, massage and wipe out with cotton ball or gauze. Wipe down the outer part of the ear with the same solution on the cotton ball or gauze.

Just a warm wash cloth. No soap and do not go into the ear, their ears are far too sensitive for anyone not completely experineced in the cleansing of dog's ears to be going near, this could cause permanent damage. NO Q-TIPS!!

the best way is to clean them out with gauze or a cotton ball. whatever you do, don't use a q-tip though because dogs' ears are in an L-shape (not like ours, which are straight), so you could poke and rupture the inside of the ear.

dogs have fine ear hairs and if you have a pair of tweezers pluck the hairs out so it doesn't have stuff collecting in them i use a warm face cloth with warm water to wash my dogs ears out and then make sure they are really dry when you are done
