No. He is called Dios, or Todopoderoso.
Jesus is called Jesucristo; Son of God is called Hijo de Dios. El Sol means the Sun.

If you go to newadvent.com (Catholic Encyclopedia) in the Litany of the Holy Name, Jesus is referred to as the 'Sun of Justice'. The Lord is never referred as 'el Sol'.That to me borders on paganism.I am not Hispanic but am just trying to answer your question from a Catholic position. In the words of Blessed Miguel Pro,Viva Cristo Rey.

Not in spanish, but in Latin. Domine is the Lord and also the sun. So the word Domingo (sunday) is the day of the Lord or the day of the sun.

Not that I am aware of. Maybe, just maybe, Peruvian Indians equate God with the sun. In their ancient Aztec religion the sun WAS God..
