I had a gf in the summer. We both really liked each other, chemistry in my opinion was really good, we had a lot in common, etc etc. But about a month later she dumped me, one of the reasons b/c i was too nice. Is that a problem with girls? Can guys be too nice? I don't want to screw up agian. Funny thing is a lot of ppl thought we'd last longer, b/ce we were so compatible.

Can a guy be too nice?

The answer is yes. How is this possible? The general rule is that by being too nice, the relationship becomes too platonic. What this means is that the emotional state is more like that of being 'friends'. The level of attraction then naturally goes down, because you will be seen as 'just a friend'.

Does that mean you have to be a bad guy?
Getting the balance right is the most difficult thing. Some guys are naturally selfish in a relationship and need to work on being less self-centered (I guess being nicer).

Other guys, especially when you are crazy about a girl or a guy, can be too nice. Thinking this is quite natural. That a girl or a guy is the center of your world and that they alone can make you happy. Depending on the realtionship, especially if both partners do not feel like this, it can sometimes come across as overpowering, or as dependence or neediness. Which will not work either.

Doing things you like, creating a good feeling in your own life and being confident with who you are, seem to be some the best qualities. Being happy in your own world.

Friends make good lovers
However sometimes, you can connect with someone so strongly that your friendship becomes stronger and stronger and stronger. Until it naturally develops into a relationship. Though, I think for this to happen there has to be an amazingly strong deep bond and perhaps a degree of unwriten mutual physical attraction.

I hope this has helped. I was sorry to hear about this, especially if it happened unexpectly. It may not be that you are 'too nice'. But you just didn't meet the right girl. Seems like ya got a lot to offer, this aint the only gal in the world, get out there.

That's a shame because there aren't enough "nice guys" to go around. For some reason a lot of girls are drawn to bad boys. I think there is such a thing as being too nice, though. I know someone who is going out with this girl and he looks almost like a lost puppy following her around and he does whatever she wants. That's what I'd considered "whipped." But more often I don't see any problem with a guy being really nice.

You'll find another girl someday who appreciates your good-natured personality, so don't worry!

I think she just kept you around for the attention your giving her, and i don't think she was ever interested to be your gf she just kept you around till she found the real type of guy she like, usually a stupid dumb player.
Been there too man, things seemed like a dream then suddenly things started to fade away when she got what she wanted from me and that was attention i was giving

Unfortunately, yes.
A guy that's too nice, is to a regular girl, just friend material.
You are good enough just being yourself. You need only to wait for someone who really appreciates your qualities.
