i am a 20 year old MALE college student and i want to dye my hair a really different color like blue or red how should i go about doing this, and what will others think. i am a very popular kid in my college, and i am curious if this will also set a trend. i am sick of my blackish brown hair and want to try something else, is that weird?

no its not weird...i dont think it will set a trend, maybe in high school but I dont think it would affect college students. I dont know what color you should dye it, but I dyed my hair in high school Blue, and after it started to wash out it turned an ugly green. So I think you should go with red, and go to a salon see how much they charge, if its too steep go to Sally's and get the dye and have a girlfriend do it for you.

Not weird, just normal college rebellion. I am not a fan of koolaid colored hair, to me highlighting or streaking is more natural and the growing out isnt nearly as tedious when you get tired of the new color. Get over yourself about setting trends, its been done.

my hair is blue. my boyfriends hair is red. and mine used to be pink and his used to be green. it is kinda weird but it is a good weird. people just need to get used to it. but whatever you do dont use manic panic. it doesnt work at all. and you have to get a really strong hair bleach like maximum blonde and bleach it first. and i never tell people this but since i dont know you its alright. use special effects. its the only **** that really works, some colors are pretty much permadent. and darker colors work best. do it at home, dont get it done proffesionally. its simple works better and saves money. good luck :]

A few things, if you're dying your hair a drastic color, be sure to bleach it, & bleach it well. Particularly if you dye it blue, which I found out first hand can make your hair look grayish if you start with out a bleach job. (Ick!) My all time favorate drastic color is bright *** yellow. like manic panic's "flavine yellow" i believe.
Below is a link to Manic Panic's "how-to."

in case you have darkish brown hair, bleaching it is going to turn it orange, so while the purple and blue wash out, your hair will nonetheless be orange, because of the fact the bleach takes an exceedingly long term to bathe out. flow to a stylist just to speak approximately how else you could save the purple and blue from fading without utilising bleach.

Go to Sally's Beauty Supply and get a product called Jazzing. It is not a permanent color, so if you don't like it, it won't be forever.

It's alright to dye your hair but the problem is on which colour best suit your face. you'll need expert hair dresser to give you the right comment for that.
