Catholicism is a branch of Christianity. Not believing in the Bible defeats the purpose of Christianity. You can't claim to be a Christian yet not believe in the one book that Christianity is all about.

Yes, you can still be a catholic as a catholic is one who accepts the tenets written in the "catechism" and one who believes in the "apostle's creed" , the CREDO, and the NICENE CREED (from the Nicea Council organized by Constantine, the Roman Emperor who converted to Christianity after a dream) that speaks to the TRINITY of God with Jesus as the second person (God the SON) in the TRINITY....That is not in the Bible.

Most catholics are not encouraged to read the Bible as there are many contradictions and many theological points that do not reflect a belief in ONE loving and compassionate GOD. Jesus is more "the lamb" of God, the Messiah and his message is one of LOVE and HUMILITY. The old testatment is about the MONARCHY and the Elite of the old Jewish Religion.

If you want to get in depth into the catholic faith, read Thomas Aquinas, and other theologians of that era, who's writings were banned until well after their death but who become the propropents of the "hellinization" (Greek thought or "logic) of Catholicism and brought about the "reformation" and the Renaissance that freed the scientist and the "creative" thinkers who brought about the age of "reason" and "logic" followed by the "industrial revolution", the electromagnetic revolution, and the "electronic or the Information" revolution. Scientists are not threatened by the Church anymore as in the "olden days"...

The old testament is a historical account of the Jewish people and is not part of Catholic Chritianity, it is however predominant in the more "fundamentalist" sects of Christianity in the USA.

You are a Catholic. You are just a rotten one. I think though that if you don't believe in the Bible that you have basically excommunicated yourself so , even though your soul bears the indelible mark of a Christian you just do not resemble one at all spiritually that is.

There wouldn't be much point in it would there. I don't know if you can resign from the Catholic church. Ask the Father or the Bishop -- whoever is in charge.

No! It is a religion based on the Bible, the teachings of God through Jesus Christ. You are not a believer!
