I knew it would happen, but I naively hoped that it would just go away. I'm worried for my kids and my future grandchildren.

What's "ugly" about two people who love each other, want to spend their lives together, and want the legal benfits and responsibilities under the law that such a commitment entails?
Hey, look, I'm straight, married with 2 kids...but I hate when anyone is denied their legal rights, and I see no way that two people legally sanctioning what is usually already a long-term commitment does any harm to me (or any other straight people). It's time the christian crusaders stopped ignoring our constitution in the name of their outdated superstitious dogma. If you don't want your *church* to perform gay marriages, then don't. But that doesn't give you the LEGAL right (which has nothing to do with church, religion, or god) to deny others their legal rights.

What are you saying? The Democrats won because everyone hates the war; it didn't really have anything to do with gay marriage. And what do you mean "ugly head"?

It's only an "ugly" issue if that's how you chose to define it. Issues that need attention are always put out on the table after any election, and it doesn't matter what party holds the majority.

I have seen enough ugliness in straight marriages to honestly wonder why my gay friends really want to have anything to do with marriage at all.
The grass is always greener applies to everyone, I suspect.

Grow up and stop acting like a bigot. With the rate of divorce in so called straight marriages, gay marriages can't be any worse.

It's this kind of attitude that causes the homosexual community to look at those of us who claim to be Christians as hatemongers, hypocrites and hostile. Would Christ not have dined with them and presented his unconditional love to draw them to him? Focus on the Family offers to excellent videos that all Christian-claiming people should watch so that they can be more aware of how we should speak in reference to homosexuality if we truly want to reach them for Christ; they are entitled Love Won Out and I Do Exist. As long as we are willing to accept all sinners to come in their sin and accept Christ and let Christ make the change in their life, then why are we not willing to make the same allowance for homosexuals? Do we really expect them to give up their sin prior to their acceptance of Christ? That isn't what Christ taught us.

Oh My God! You are so right! You know, I hate it when other people find happiness, I mean, if I'm not gay then how can other people be gay? If I don't understand it then it can't be right? I mean isn't everyone me? why doesn't everyone agree with me? Oh my God! It's me me me!
Why don't you just live and let live. Everyone has the right to happiness, gay people aren't protesting your rights to happiness and a full life are they?

Good. It needs to happen. Time to stear the US gvt away from the extreme religious bent it's been on. The US is for everyone, and it stands for freedom. It doesn't stand for the oppression of anyone that isn't Christian and/or doesn't live by Christian values.
