Crappie minnows are sold commercially as are Shiners. Shad or any of the Sucker family are also used for bait.
Any fish smaller than what you are fishing for can be used for bait. Even fish of the same species.

Corn is used to "pal" (deliver/save right into a close-by) particular fish like carp. Corn kernels are concepts-blowing bait for rainbow trout stocked in lakes too. For all around fishing, you in elementary terms won't be able to conquer stay bait. Worms are the traditional stay bait yet use despite the fact that your objective fish is feeding on interior the water you intend to fish. stable success!

There are lots of them. It's pretty much any small fish you can get. We use a cast net in the shallows and collect them ourselves, but that may not be legal where you live.
