I'm ambivalent about it, I think it's both good and bad. Good: keeps you away from actually having sex (staying abstinence). Bad: It's kind of unfitful in a religious sense.

what's your opinion?

Just so you know, I've never masturbated.

I think that masturbation is an important part of sexuality. The more you know about your own body and sexual response, the easier it willl be to teach your husband how to please you.

And, if your beliefs require you to abstain from sex until marriage, it's good way to deal with the feelings that we all have.

Sweetheart...if your having that much thought about staying abstinence....all in the name of God.....and you think masturbating will help you stay a virgin......YOUR WRONG! Two things:

1. Masturbating may actually make you realize how much pleasure it can actually be
2. If you think that is "unfitful" (not quite sure what that means), but yet having to turn to masturbating to avoid sex.....that is "unfitful"

Be smart about what ever you choose to do! Masturbating can prepare you for sex....not avoid you from having it! God doesn't mind if you "pleasure yourself"...he does mind if you make hasty decisions! Always be prepared!!!! And think....at least you can't get AIDS...or an STD ...or pregnant.....from masturbating :)

Good luck!

I also agree with you. It's good and bad issue. Well, that really depends on you. But I'll say if you don't have a boyfriend and you don't masturbate yourself. That seems not too logical. Everyone has their own needs and definitely to vent it off. Is it wrong for strong religious & beliefs married couple to have sex? That's not wrong at all, it's nothing to do with your religion. Humans are made in such a way to bear the next generation. That doesn't mean married couples have offended the gods. I think it is ok and perfectly fine to masturbate with yourself only, not involving any party. Threesomes is definitely a No-No for religious lady like you. It's not right and offensive to your own beliefs and religion.

Congratulations. If You are religious you need to follow your religion, but your religion should tell you what to do when you are anxious. It is very hard to abstain, I wanted to abstain but I couldn't. When I was younger I used to masturbate two times a week, but after 35 years old, I had to do bigger effort, after that age I did that one time in a month. But what happen? During the sleep I discharged myself, I wake up wet from down there, I don't like that, then I have to practice masturbation at least two times a month. It is in my case. From Santa Cruz, CA. Jose C. *sigh*

when the bible was written, there weren't as many people on the planet as there are now, hence the admonition "Go Forth and Multiply". So the thinking was, if you're doing yourself, you're not following the plan and masturbation became a sin. But there is nothing sinful about it! You've got to remember who WROTE the bible... men of an era where things were vastly different than they are now. Men... who made the rules then and are still trying to make the rules now. Think about it...

Its okay, enjoy yourself. I think it also has allot to do with the way you perceive it. As a man, I would rather be with you then with a girl who slept with allot of men instead. Personally, I don't find it religiously unfitful at all.

If sex were not an option then masturbation has to be one. No sexual encounters up until marriage? Is that possible for mankind?
