Do not rub his nose in it, that doesn't really do anything. If you catch him in the act, say no and try to get him outside. When he does go outside, give him a treat right there and praise him big time. Also, if he doesn't go while you're outside, take him back in, put him in the crate for ten minutes, then take him back outside. Keep doing this till he goes outside. This will teach him that he doesn't get the run of the house till he goes outside. Also, have him on a feeding schedule. Don't leave the food and water down. Feed him two to three times a day and give him water about five times a day. This will help you figure out a scedule better. Once he's potty trained, you can leave the food and water out.

Your puppy is confused. Start over, this time with a crate. The crate needs to be his den, his safe place. He should sleep there, and be there when you cannot supervise him. If he does not go to the bathroom outside when you take him, put him back into his crate for 5-10 minutes then take him outside again. Be patient, this can be fixed. Feed meals also. Regular in = regular out.

Please do not scold your puppy unless you actually CATCH him in the act... He will not understand if you scold him for past naughtiness.
Try telling him go potty/poo when you take him out... get REALLY excited, give lots of praise and a good treat is he does his duty. Take him outside about 10-15 minutes after every meal, and right after a hard playtime (or if he suddenly stops playing in the middle of it).
Hope this helps!

your puppy is still young and they tend to pee allot at this age! they are also easily distracted like a small child!! for the pooping, take your puppy out about a half a hour after it eats, the digestive system works fast! if he goes in the house, tell him he's bad, pick it up with tp and put it out in your yard! they tend to go where the smell it!! don't take him in until he goes, even if this means standing there for a while! every time he goes out side praise him!!

DO NOT RUB YOUR DOGS NOSE INTO HIS "MESS"!!!!!!
This is very unsanitary. And it can cause your dog to get sick. would you rub your kids nose in his mess? Just take him to the mess and point and tell him no. Then take him outside and stand there until he does his business. If he gets distracted with leaves or playing tell him hurry up and potty. having a pup and training it takes alot of time and pacience. also they sell puppy training spray at petsmart. you spray the area where you want puppy to handle his business. worked well for my pit bull. you should try it.

It sounds like you are he are both gettting frustrated. There are good professional sleep-away schools for dogs - they go for two weeks and come back all trained and happy. Maybe you guys both need that kind of break, so you can enjoy quality time together. Maltese are beautiful and loveable, try to let someone else be the "bad guy" so you can enjoy your baby!

that is a common problem with that breed. As well as shih tzu's. I currently have a shih tzu with that same problem. So I went to the store and bought puppy training pads. Works like a charm.

you need to take administration of the canines and grow to be the dominant source or %. chief because of the fact the canines will see it!! you need to show the domestic dog that what you're saying is going. initiate via making a noisy noise, clanging of pans and so forth. while he is going right into a predator state, or via giving him a forceful faucet on the fringe of the neck on the comparable time as a noisy 'NO'. this is how a canines might spectacular his habit, with a pointy bite to the neck. you need to make the domestic dog calm after which you introduce the cat. as quickly because of the fact the canines is going to even examine out the cat you need to spectacular him, you're searching for the domestic dog to initiate via heading off the situation thoroughly. you need to continually proceed to be calm while introducing the cat, while you're stressful in any way it will make the domestic dog react in a detrimental way. you need to maintain doing this back and back back, and finally the canines will different than him. remember a Cairn is a factor of the terrier breed, they have been fashion designer to kill different animals and have been used for ratting for some years, so as that they are harder to coach to different than different smaller animals. you need to make the canines understand which you do no longer enable him to chase the different animal, no longer basically your cat. as in case you enable him to chase birds or geese he will bypass back into his predator state and attack your cat. this is often harder to coach organic breeds to lose their animal instincts, yet you will get there interior the top.
