Colombia’s capital city, Bogotá, is a city of contrasts. While high-rise buildings stand next to colonial churches, the city hosts a wide range of universities, theaters ,museums, and It is also Colombia's largest financial, political, and cultural center.
Bogota is a modern and cosmopolitan city that offers residents and visitors everything that a modem city can give including a vibrant and diverse cultural and intellectual life.
Tip:This is applicable to most large cities in the world: Use the same common sense traveling overseas that you would at home.. ( avoid areas where you are likely to be victimized, avoid carrying large amounts of cash, etc)

HI. I am an American who has been to Colombia many times. I have been to Cali, Medellin, Bogota , Cartagena, and San Andres. I can tell you that Bogota is a very, very large city. Bogota is the capital of Colombia and has a population of around 10 million people. It is a very beautiful city. The two biggest pieces of advice that I can give you is one: despite that Colombia is located near the equator, the city is in high elevation with a fairly chilly climate. The highs during the day are only around 60-65 F. the lows at night can be in the lower 40s. the second advice is that this city is extremely business oriented and very cosmopolitan.... do not expect to get by cheaply. Compared with many of the other cities in Colombia, Bogota is a fairly expensive place to visit. hotels can cost a comparitive amount to prices in the U.S. good luck and be careful.

Bogota (the Capital of Colombia) is very beautiful but a bit chilly so make sure you pack some warm clothes.
The night clubs there are phenomenal if you like to party.

I spent a few days there once, I enjoyed it. It has a great gold museum (the biggest in the world) you can take a cable car to one of the peaks overlooking the city for great views. Prices are reasonable - depending of course on the currency you have already!
Nightlife - great , always somewhere to go.
GO!!!
