No, oatmeal is good for you--full of protein and fiber. I can't see how it could hurt you soft instead of cooked.
However, why don't you eat granola--it's cooked oats that you can munch on.

RE:
Is eating dry oats/ instant oatmeal, bad for you?
REALLY weird, but I purchase oats/ instants oatmeal (plain, no sugar) in bulk and I have developed a taste for eating them dry.
Yes, dry! Chew on them dry and then gulp down some water. I don't know why I find the taste appealing, but I do.
Is this bad in any way for my Digestive system...

Oats are full of fiber, when you purchase 'instant oatmeal' it can have a tonne of sugar, and even fat added to taste 'good'. Sure dry oats will expand in your stomach, wheather you drink liquids at the same time or not. If they are not reconstituted with added liquids then they will leach them from your stomach, just like pasta(the liquids will for the most part will be returned to you by the end of digestion). Basically, dried oats are very good for your body, a great way to fill yourself quickly and for an extended time. Just don't add refined sugar, iodized salts, or fats and you may end up to be the healthiest person ever! Well at the very leat you'll have healthier snacking habbits then anyone I know!

Ok. You cooked the product. Did you smell anything different? Probably not. Ate a few bites and it was sour. Oats dont go bad because it is just oats- a grain just like macaroni or spaghetti. It comes down to temperature variation. Grains have to be stored in a cool and dry place. Any chance of it coming in contact with any off elements and you run the danger of having bad oatmeal.

I eat dry oats/instant oatmeal the same and there is nothing wrong with eating it this way. They are very good for lowering cholestrol.

It may not be if you are eating minute oats, not to sure! One thing you can do also with dry oats is add them (about 2 tablespoons) into your yogurt them put in fridge overnight and spoon away. YUM YUM !! I also love them oatmeal shakes ..cooked oatmeal with milk in a tall glass and a couple of spoons of suger yum yum. Healthy and keeps you regular.

This is one of the best snacks you could have. It lowers cholesterol and gives you loads of fiber.
Animals eat uncooked oats and it works wonders on them.
Granola tends to have fat and sugar and preservatives and all sorts of bad stuff added. Stick with the raw if you like it.

I think it's fine - I know a recipe that calls for uncooked oats. I bet it's also healthier uncooked.
