My girlfriend burned her knuckle on the frying pan while making grilled cheese. It is not a bad burn, very minor and is small, but is still very painful. Looking for a good home remedy to help her.

Put her hand in ice ice ice cold water....it's painful at first but it's better in the long run. The scar wont be as bad. Tell her to soak it as long as she can stand it...get the fever out. Then put on any type of burn cream and a bandaid (preferably one that won't stick!) for a day or so...then leave it uncovered so it can begin to scab and heal.

Making a paste out of baking soda and water is about the best home remedy, but there's also a homeopathic ointment that you can use - it's called Calendula. I would advise you to always have it on hand along with Arnica gel for bruising. These are 2 inexpensive things, and they work.

Ice should have been applied immediately to prevent the burn from going any deeper. I assume its too late for that, but ice will still numb the pain. Then use a good anti-bacterial gel like Neosporin.

Try cold water. Cold water is recommended to soothe small burns such as this one. When I was a little girl the popular thing to do @ the time was to place butter on the burn. This is no longer recommended however try the cold water.

If it does not have a non stick surface bury it in the garden for a few days. The insects in the soil eat the burnt food on the pan. Also very good for very dirty copper and brass.

The simple method is the best...keep it cold! It will make it feel the best, and is really the only thing to eliminate the pain. Do this for several hours. It will work. Wrap ice cubes in a washcloth.
