I had a Chihuahua a few years ago ... her name was Minny. OMG ... she was the meanest lil' thing EVER!! If you touched her bone, toy, bed, food ... whatever .... her eyes would bulge outta her head and she'd show you every tooth she had in her mouth ... yikes!! Might I add ... I raised her like I have raised every dog I've ever owned ... with a lot of love, so it certainly was NOT the way she was raised. On the other hand, I can put my face up to my Pit Bulls face and take away his bone, food and/or favorite toy... and all he does is whimper. Hmmm ... go figure.

I can't say ALL Chihuahua's are this way. That would be like saying ALL Pit Bulls are mean .... and to do that, well ... that'd be ignorance at it's best .....

I own a chihuahua and they are a little selfish towards other dogs but one of the main things they want to do is play. We have an older dog and it gets tired of our chihuahua playing around it but is now use to the idea. Sometimes shes lazy and likes to lay but they usually dont bit unless you take food away and/or playing with them.

I think it depends on the dog and how they're treated by the owner. The people across the street from me had 2 ankle biting demon chihuahuas. I've had 3 and they've always been nice.

Chihuahuas usually get attached to one person and will feel like they have to defend that person from everything. My cousin had one and her chihuahua would not tolerate anyone coming near her, she would snap and bark her head off until the person backed away. I wouldn't call it mean, they are just extremely protective.

I extremely have 2 chihuahua mixes that are recues. though they began out with themes, they have basically been the ultimate dogs. they elect time and get very connected and intensely unswerving in the route of their vendors. Mine aren't to any extent further propose and they make large abode dogs. they're uncomplicated to potty practice and pay interest ok. in case you elect a chi i propose adopting a chi blend from a safeguard. they're large dogs!

They can be, like other small dogs. I'd say it's maybe 10% the dog and 90% the person who owns them. A lot of people baby them and carry them around all the time. They need to walk around more and get proper socialization with people and other animals. Like people and other animals, if they don't get used to something, they are scared of it. That's the main reason little dogs bark and bite more.

No dog is "normally" mean. I highly recommend the National Geographic show "Dog Whisperer". Carlos Millan understands pack mentality and shows us all how to be pack leaders. Dogs with personality problems are simply neurotic because humans are treating them like humans instead of dogs!

If they're mean, they're probably just defending themselves since people are a lot bigger than them. Chihuahuas are also known for being really abnoxious anyway.
