My parents plan to buy a large (probably 42in-50in) tv. We are looking at a few different models, right now. HD is a must, because my dad loves it, and I need it for gaming.

So this is where my question comes from, is HDPTV, the same as an HDTV?

Yes, it is an HDTV The "P" means plasma, so it is a High Definition Plasma TV.

It's a type-o.

I would also suggest consideration of one

of the Sony Bravia models in the same size

range. Also, if your sitting position is between

6-12 feet from the television, the 37" Westinghouse

LCD 1080p HDTV is probably the best value going on

the HDTV market -at least on the internet at ~$1k.
