My dog had something like this when he was a puppy. They were small scabby bumps. It turned out to be mange. He ended up losing most the hair on his face (hes a pug). Your dog needs to go to the vet ASAP, so he can be diagnosed. It is costly, especially if its mange, your dog will have to be dipped (medicated bath). And on a previous comment someone stated you can catch it, that is VERY TRUE. The left side of my neck up to half of my left cheek broke out in a red rash. It did not go a way until a thoroughly cleaned my furniture and spent a few days away from my dog.

It sounds like it's probably mange. To be on the safe side, buy flea spray that is also rated to kill mites and start spraying your house, room by room (you can't be in the room for 2-4 hours after you spray, so start with one room in the morning and work your way around the house, room by room). Don't buy the cheap flea spray; it just won't do it for the mites! On the upside, it'll also keep away roaches, ants, and other pesky critters, for up to three months.
Also wash all of your bedding and your puppy's bedding and toys in HOT water, preferably with chlorine bleach (only if you're washing whites, duh).
The two best and cheapest treatments are: Revolution, once every two weeks, for two months and Ivermectyn, once a week, for six weeks. Both of these products will also replace your typical heartworm preventative and Revolution also replaces Frontline (you will still need a flea-tick preventative on Ivermectyn but NOT flea collars). Revolution can't be used on shepherd and collies and their mixes, while Ivermectyn can't be used on some other kind of breeds (I don't remember which).
Many puppies from mills and/or adopted from kennels come with mange, and many of those have the immune system to simply fight it off. But odds are, from a pound or a bad breeder, they aren't fed properly to fight it off, and what you get is a mangey pup.
BTW, the mites can't live on people, so you might get a few bites here and there, and if you're allergic you can get a special shampoo from a dermotologist, but you won't get an infestation like your dog.

Coul be mites, mange, ringworm (you can get this too, so be careful), fleas, or a veriety of other skin conditions. As others have suggested, take your dog to the vet, they'll do a skin scrape and/or culture, and help you treat it. Good luck, and congratulations on the new puppy!:)
One more thing. When a dog's allergic to something, it shows through skin conditions. They're don't get a stuffed up nose and sneeze like we do when we have allergies. same with food allergies, they get skin problems.

Wow...if the hair continues to fall out you better take her to another vet. It can be allergies but it can also be a skin disease or infection. Its best to treat as soon as possible cause it can get much worse and your puppy have a lot of discomfort. Try the doggy parlor, they have medical baths that can help the itchiness and condition the skin. Don't wash her yourself it can make it worse.

You should take it to the vet. It probably just has some form of mites. No big deal as long as it gets started on the medicine to get rid of them. My puppy had them and he was on medicine foe about 3 weeks and it has been a year and he is fine.

Need to take it to the vet. The vet will scrape a sample of the skin to see if it has mange mites. It could be any skin condition that needs to be checked. Crongratulations on you puppy.

it could be dermadex...something like that..it's a type of mites which the dog bites and ends up having hot spots. go to the vet and they will do a scrape test to see, and if it turns out to be, then they just give some antibiotics and stuff. no big deal...but take it to the vet soon~!!

if it started around her face then its prolly demidex..a mite they are exsposed to during the birthing process.
my boxer pup has it. and they need a special dip from the vet to get rid of it.
also it could be an allergic reaction to her food, some dogs have problems with corn or soy based foods
make an appt with your vet and they will be able to tell you whats going on.

The missing hair spots are from where the dog is biting. If a dog has fleas or ticks they will bite at them, and if they bite at the spot enough they will bite the hair away. i advise you take your dog to the vet.
