My son is 12 and has the same problem. I noticed the marks on him a couple of years ago and started to moisturize his skin after every shower and sometimes in between. You can make your own concoction with a big bottle of Vasaline Intensive Care lotion and a bottle of Vitamine E oil.
Anything to keep and hold moisture to lesson the trauma of growing skin.

My son, who is now 16, grew 3 inches one summer. He too, has stretch marks on his lower back and upper thighs by the edge of his underwear. When he was growing, they were rather bright pink. That was a couple of years ago and they have faded a lot now.

There really is nothing you can do. This happens sometimes, just as in pregnant women, when the skin is stretched very fast.

They will fade in time and not be so noticeable.

Take care.

p.s.--> Pay no attention to the guy who made the food remark about your son. My son is a beanpole! He is almost 6 feet tall and weighs only 150 lbs. He wears a size 32x34 jeans...hardly a fatty! He just grew really fast--that is why he has some stretch marks.

My husband is 6'4" and 255lbs (and in the military so he isnt considered overweight) and has stretch marks on his upper arms. Its funny how the bones and muscles grow faster than the skin. The marks have faded- he is 30 now. He didnt stop growing until he was 21. We were young and broke- and he always needed new shoes when we had the least bit to get by on! I laugh now- but it used to make me so mad! He was a size 10 when we met and now is a 13.
My son is 10 and I think he will be tall- he just grew about 2 inches last month.
Putting him on a restrictive diet while he is still growing cant be that good for him.
My husband says there is a confidence that comes with the hight- he always says- what is someone gonna do? Beat me up? HAHA

Darth is an idiot obviously. The stretch marks are just because he is growing so quickly. At 5'9", he doesn't sound overweigh to me. Get him involved in sports and an exercise program. There is not much you can do about the stretch marks except some Vitamins on the skin. Don't keep bringing them up as there is not much to do about them. People either get them or not.

Don't fret, I have a 13 year old that wears a size 13 shoe. My son is very similar to yours at 5'10 and 200pds. He is very tall and husky, but not round. Put him in a sport that rely's on his size such as wrestling or football. That way you can put the emphasis on his strength. Continue to reassure him that he will be glad one day of his physique, and so will the girls. This has worked for me thus far. As far as stretch-marks, that is what happens when you grow too quickly. And remember that adolescents need some fat in order to go through puberty-Best of luck with your boy!

Your son is growing faster than the skin can keep up. Both on the upward growth and the around the middle growth. My son was this height at his age. Now his marks are dwarfed by his height 6' 6" tall.

daily moisturing esp with vitamin e will help with the stretch marks. getting him into sports will help with everything else.

i would check with his doctor to make sure everything is okay

now you know how most mothers feel lol. it's ALWAYS hard when your child either out grows you or beats you at your favorite game or whatever. it's hard, but just remember that this is YOUR son and he shines a light on you (every positive thing about him makes you look even better)

Lotions won't help, they are from rapid growth as others have stated. New marks can be treated with Relume laser and if they are older faded ones a chemical peel can help. Take him to the Drs, don't waste a penny on creams they won't help a bit to prevent or remove.

moisturize daily use pure vitamin E oil and there are even creams on the market that will help reduce the stretch marks.....pregnant women use it...I did and it made a big difference to reduce them.
