I'm sure she is just really comfortable at home. When she's playing in her comfort zone she just can't remember about using the bathroom. She is only 6 and many kids have this problem. Maybe you should put her in a pull-up or better yet a goodnight. Goodnights are not much thicker than underwear, but it would prevent you from have big messes to clean up. good luck!

more than likely: it's exactly as you stated in your question. she forgets because she is too busy playing. I have had the same trouble a couple of times with my 4 year old. It's only happened about 4 times. But now I try to make her go to the bathroom every so often, so I can avoid the trouble. Good luck.

Take a time out of play. Seriously, every hour or so, have her try using the potty. Kids learn to "hold it" at a very young age, but they think they can hold it until they want to go. That is why she is going at home. She's busy playing and doesn't want to go so she'll hold it until she just can't anymore. School is more structured, they usually have a bathroom time and also the fear of embarrassment around her friends makes her go when she has to go.
Try to structure a time when she goes also. I make my daughter (age 4) go potty when she gets home, before or after lunch (depending if she was able to go before lunch) after naptime and then every 2 hours or so. She has only had one nightime accident since she's been potty trained, and I think part of the reason is because she is told to go potty at specific times.
It's frustrating I bet. Good luck.

My sister had this problem when she was younger. My mom would get soo upset, the problem went on until she was about 9. The school we went to made us wear uniforms so when she got home my mom would have a sun dress waiting on her bed. It makes for easier access when she has to go. She would claim that she was having to much fun and didnt want to leave her friends. Try going out to remind her every so often just dont to it infront of her friends as it might embarress her. You can also do this as it worked for my sister Get her a jar or piggy bank and everyday she doesnt urinate on herself give her a dollar then at the end of the week you can take her to the store and she can buy something for herself.

She forgets to use the potty because she is busy. My daughter used to do that and I couldn't figure out why- but she was so busy having fun or doing whatever it was she was doing that she just didn't pay attention to the urge to go. It's nothing to worry about- just remind her ever hour or so to use the bathroom- she will grow out of this phase soon.

maybe she needs to be on a toilet schedule. Something like that unless someone knows what's going on in your kids life is kind hard to do. Could be just a way of her getting some attention. Try positive reinforcement. When she does go to the bathroom on her own at home praise her. I know in school they have scheduled times when they go to the bathroom. try that

My nephew does the same thing. He gets really interested in what hes doing and forgets. Do you have any other kids in the house that she might be afraid of losing a toy to? I have 3 nephews that play together and he is afraid of losing toys or missing something funny and will just hold it as long as possible. Theres also a type of A.D.D. that causes kids to be way to interested in what they are doing.

Maybe she's seeking your attention and love in an odd way. Make sure she gets positive attention all the time, but ESPECIALLY when she remembers to use the bathroom while out playing. If that doesn't work, make her go in regularly to use the restroom and beat her to the punch. ;-) Good luck!

because when little ones are hyper focused, they notice nothing else. it happened to my niece quite often (poor thing). she just didn't notice that she had to go until it was too late, and oops! don't worry, she will grow out of it. my niece did when she was about seven. sometimes gentle reminders help when you notice she's mentally drowned in something. as far as her only doing it at home, that's probably a place she feels safe enough to not pay attention to anything but what she's doing. also, it's a place where she won't feel embarrassed. does that make sense?
