I have a 7 1/2 month old kitten, when I first got her she used the litter box just fine, but for the last week and half she's been urinating on things she's not suppose to! It was thought that a first maybe the litter boxes weren't clean enough, so I started cleaning them everyday but that didn’t effect her. She has been spayed for about a month and half now, so I really don't think it has anything to do with that. I have 2 other cats besides her (one is her sister, while the other is a 11 years old) and 4 litter boxes (1 is a automatic cleaning one), so could it be that I need to get another litter box? And is there just anyway I could just re-train her to use it, because getting rid of her is not an option.

is she urinating or spraying? Spraying is a behaviour issue, urinating can be behaviour or health. She may have a spay incontinence problem. It could be a UTI or bladder infection. I always recommend that the first step in treating a urinary issue is a trip to the vet to rule out any disease or infection. If all is clear, put her in a room, preferably the bathroom, by herself for a few days. Put a litter box in there, AND her food. Cats do NOT like to eliminate near a food source. Keep the litter box at one end of the bathroom and her food and water at the other. She will re-orient herself to the box quickly.

She is marking her territory. Your older cat, the 11 year old, has probably made her place in various places you don't know about over time. Also, if all of your cats use all of the litter boxes then she is probably wanting a place of her own. Try this: Clean out all litter boxes completely, rinse, refill. Then place all the boxes next to each other. You will find that they will begin to use their own box by marking it their territory. So, three cats, three boxes. This only works if the litter boxes are very clean with soap and water to start fresh. Imagine, cats can do tricks.

a slight infection is probably the cause if you have that many boxes and they are clean..but make sure the place where she has urinated on the floor is clean of smell..a cat will go back to that spot if she can smell the urine...she may not like to share the box with other cats too...but I would check her for a infection before I did anything else ASAP...it can kill them in 48 hours if they have a blockage...

Try changing the type of litter you use to non scented clay. If the llitter box has a lid - rmove it. You must get the house cleaned of the urine smell as cats tend to pee in the same place. Th ecat may also have a baldder infection.

Make sure the box is not around the food... make sure the box is clean .. change the type of litter. You may want to have her checked out to make sure she does not have a bladder infection or diabetes.

are you sure she doesn't have a urninary tract infection? Check with your vet, because you need to catch it in it's early stages if she does.
