Think of the same exercises that you do. Weight lifting, jogging. It doesn't matter. Actually all that is needed is adult supervision. Help keep it entertaining, good habits now, transverse adulthood. On the bright side, you could possibly have a workout buddy, now.Just make sure that your child doesn't over do it, and monitor their heart rate. But your ten year old is very capable of just about any exercise that their heart desires.

I would focus mostly on cardio/plyometrics then weight lifting. He is too young to see any real benefit from straight strenght traning, maybe if you want to introduce him to the motions that would be fine, but chances are they dont have weights light enough for him. The important thing there is to not damage the growth plates. Running, biking, climbing are all very good forms of excercise as well as have the advantages of increasing balance and agility. I'd have him hold off on weights for a while (till late teens).

Good info here. It's a good idea to consult a professional trainer. I am NOT a professional, but I would think as long as they keep the weight light enough that they can do at least 20 reps per set they should be fine. Keep in mind that I'm NOT a professional, however.
