They seem sort-of sympathetic... the Christian message is essentially peaceful and inward-looking (like Buddhism), and emphasises a strong social consciousness. Roman Catholicism and Shinto share similar ideas of ritual. Both are semi-shamanistic. Well?

While most of what you say is true, I do not think that Catholicism is shamanistic. It is weird that you bring up this topic, because this is what I was learning about in one of my classes a couple weeks ago. Shinto and Catholicism have a big difference in the sense that Shinto believes in thousands of kami, or spirits. They aren't really "gods" but they are revered by communities across Japan. However, both religions do teach good morals leading to good personhood. Shinto does tend to slant more towards finding the kami in nature while Catholicism only goes so far as to say the God is in all things, not so far as the spirits are in nature.
