If it is an automatic there is a good chance your torque converter is locked up.

you could have a number of things wrong including a bad IAC motor or TPS. But the first thing comes to mind and you might think its far fetched, but I have seen this many times on Ford trucks.
Check your transmission fluid level, Hot Idling in park, make sure the level is correct. Then check if it stalls in reverse and low gear.
If it does, you could have a problem as simple as the transmission filter falling off into the transmission pan, causing the transmission torque convertor to 'Lockup" unintentionally and cause your stall complaint.

Rest assured its not the switch on the side of your transmission, that is a nueteral safety switch and only effects the starting of the vehicle. the second option is your torque convert real easy way to test that is raised the back of the vehicle so the tires are not on the ground and then place it in drive, but ake sure your front wheels are chalked very well ans you are in a safe area. if the vehicle goes into drive and the tires instantly move with the rate of the motor then its your tc. the other possibility is your air idle control valve. the way to test that is to just simply rev up you vehicle it park if thier are no sputters or hesitation it is fine.

you said it idles very good ? if it's idleing fast its a vacuum leak
But if not
It's Probably your IAC > Idle Air Control valve
Clean it and throttle body then if still bad replace.... Common

But could be torque converter.
