Sometimes if you are seated somewhere in public where the chairs are close together eg waiting room, theatre, the guy next to you (a stranger) will sit with his legs so far apart that they are pressed against you.
Is this territorial, some statement of his manhood, or he just wants to be pressed up against you?
And what is the correct etiquette? Do you give in and sit in an uncomfortable position, conceding him the territory, or do you stand your ground and leave your leg pressed against him?

Make it very clear that you're noticing his leg in your territory. Stare at him with dismay. You could use your foot to push his foot away instead of your leg cuz thats probably what he wants.

I'd find another seat, someone as unclassy as that isn't worth the touch or time in conversation. Don't bother explaining your situation to him, he might feel the sting even more when you walk off and sit somewhere else, especially with people around watching.

Do you really care what the reason is for why some men do this?
The fact is, it annoys you, and it would annoy me too. If he had good manners and was considerate of others, he wouldn't spread his legs wide open so far that they are touching the people sitting next to him. I would get up and move.

I would just gently, but consistantly, create pressure against his leg in order to make him feel uncomfortable. If this didn't work, I would start to have "restless leg syndrome" all of a sudden.
After all I will probably never see this person again.
And I would enjoy every minute of it!!

I would press your leg even closer to his, look him in the eyes, and then ask him, "do you wannnnnnna dance?", with a smile on your face. He will NEVER do it again.

If there was another seat available I'd just get up and move. If there isn't just say "Excuse me your leg is crowding me"

Lift your legs and fold them into Indian style. Then they will press into his. He'll get the hint.

Just politely say "Excuse me my legs are trapped" It shouldn't be a big deal.

Perhaps you could "accidentially" bump your legs into his and say "oops, excuse me." Doing this alerts him to your proximity to him and makes him think you are the one with the problem. He may move to avoid you.

I hate that too! They are already touching you, so take it upon yourself to push his leg away. lol. I don't know why they do that.
