What are your feelings about how the war is going out there? Do you feel that we are making progress? Are there good things happening besides all of the stuff we hear on the news? Thanks for your service.

Tough in some areas, but most of the country is secure. They blend in well but we are very good at spotting suspicious activity while they are among the crowds. It really isn't much of a war anymore. They sneak out and place bombs where we do not expect them because they truly are cowards.

Yes, a LOT of them. Many , many schools, churches, police stations, parks, etc. have been built and most cities are quite nice.

The news thrives on the misfortunes of the military and they know good news won't make money so you do not hear about all the good things going on.

I left Iraq this past September. When I was there we initiated a water project that would provide drinking water to over 30,000 people (outside of Baghdad of course) for the first time in HISTORY.

You only see what the media is putting out there. Its usually an IED or VBIED or some horrific secterian violence. There's never talk about the schools being opened, refurbished, radio stations going up, power grids coming online, oil pumps being refitted, successful combat operations....

I supported it back in 2003 and I still do. I'm glad we're there and I'm likely to go back again in the fall of 2007. Have there been mistakes? Of course. Has the President and others not been able to articulate the causes throughout the course of the war? Sure.

If you ask about WMDs... just look to the neighbors. Terrorist connections? Well I've seen plenty running up to the war and since. We might not of found the amount of what we expected but we did find what we thought we would.

We are making steady progress. Three elections, the Iraqi Army and Police are just now becoming experienced enough to take over provinces for themselves, the Iraqi courts have demonstrated their competence with the Saddam trial, and the Iraqi economy is booming.

Remember that it too Japan and Germany 10 years after WWII to get to the point where the Iraqis are today. (And they did not have the entire world working against them.)

Let the troops do their job - the Iraqi people need time. Lets give it to them.

My father went to Iraq for a year and a half (which was 4 months longer than he should have been there...), but he said that things are getting better over there, whether those anti-war reporters and newscasters like it or not. There are good things, and the Iraqis do want us to be there to help their government get on it's feet.

I am not in Iraq, but you better believe that there ARE good stories coming out of Iraq. There is always good hidden in the bad. Our news media slants to the left, and because of this, they hate the war, and therefore, would like to paint this war as all evil. Now, I am an Independent, and look at everything from the middle. I think we need to bring in the troops before Spring of 2007, not just pull them out and now and "cut and run". Please do not rely upon the LA Times, NBC, CNN, or, yes, even FOXNews Channel. Listen to KFI!

I am an ex-soldier, long time ex, disabled. The war is idiotic and already lost.
