I am thinking about buying my husband running shoes for Christmas. He's in the military and has to do PT everyday. I know that he has to run at least twice a week and I am tired of looking at his worn out shoes. I need something durable and good for running. Any suggestions? Please tell brand and style....

I'm in the military also. I have a pair of these shoes http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/17311020/c/4081.html . They feel good and come in different colors. I'm also stationed overseas and Zappos.com does free shipping, and if for some reason they don't fit you can return them free of charge. They have reviews on shoes also that will tell you if the shoe feels true to it's size and what not. I'm sure you will find the perfect shoe for him there.

I use asics for running, but running shoes are an individual choice, if he like cushion or a more stable shoe. I would not recommend high tops for running. maybe a gift certificate to a local running store and he can go try them out. some stores have treadmills where you can try a shoe and ask an expert what is a good shoe for his running, style and PT needs. As far as the military handing out shoes. well at least the Marines did not, my son had to buy his own

A good pair of running shoes are as individual as each person running in them. What is good for one person may not be good for another. I've run 3 marathons, and my favorite pair of shoes is Brooks: Adrenaline. My boyfriend however, is trying out Brooks: The Beast. (Yes, I am partial to the Brooks brand) I recommend you take your husband to a specialty running store like Run With Us, or A Snails Pace. Based on where your husband places weight on his foot, they will fit him with the best shoe. Don't guess! The wrong pair of running shoes can make running very painful! I first started running in a pair of Nikes that I got from DSW. Because the shoes did not accommadate the fact that I pronate, I experienced quite a few painful injuries.

BTW: My boyfriend is training for my next marathon with me. I took my boyfriend to Run With Us for his bday to get him a good pair of running shoes. He really liked the gift.

i love new balance shoes. they use a 3 digit number system and usually the higher the number, the better quality. they have so many varieties to choose from. i'd recommend them to anyone. i've worn them for years and put them in the washer/dryer without ruining them.
