I'm going to book my interview tonight, what should it be?
Should I call them over the phone (this is at a police station) and book the interview, or should I go in person, with a chance that the Snr Sergeant may call me in for the interview right then and there?

You might want to call and see if there is a certain day and time that they will accept application for empolyment, some places have certain days and times. If it were me I would go in person. Where something professional, Don't go in blue jeans or clothes that are too tight or falling apart. The Sergeant might be able to see you, so you want to look nice. If you look like something that they just arrested, the sergeant will think you really don't want to work there.
