I have a dog that this year is not loving me as much as he did last year. He always used sleep in my bed but now only stays with my Mother until she puts him downstairs. He also changed some other things in his behavior. How can I win my dogs love back?

Dogs usually respond to who is caring for them. To a dog, the one who walks them, feeds them and plays with them, must be the master. If you have relagated this to your Mom, your dogs allegiance is to her. In order to win your dogs heart back, you must put in QUALITY TIME. Try taking your dog for nice long walks, no yelling at it, no being mean to your dog or he will become even more attached to your Mum. Train your dog, by giving him treats when he does his tricks (food treats are a huge motivator for dogs!) and he will literally be eating out of your hand! Feed him his meals, make sure he knows you are the one feeding him and getting his water and so on. When you are just hanging out, include your dog. If he is sitting with you while watching tv or reading, he knows you are his. Be the pack leader to your dog and you will never have to worry about his loyalties again. Good luck with winning his heart back!

Are you able to spend as much time with him now as you did last year? A lot of times if a dogs primary person goes to school or something the dog will attach to the next member of the family. If you want the attention back make sure you are the one who feeds and plays with him, but don't beg for his attention too much or he may take you for granted. The biggest thing is just to hang out with him.

Did you do something to make him mad? If you have been spending less time with him due to a new job, boyfriend, etc, this might be the reason for him clinging to your mother. My dog is a very clingy dog who used to follow me around everywhere but now that I am not there as much he has formed an attachment to my mother. Dogs tend to attach themselves to whoever they see as the "alpha dog" because it makes them feel more secure. If you want him to love you more I would suggest spending more time with him and asserting yourself as the dominant one so he respects you more.

Food and treats always bait a dog, but love and attention and play!! Less correction, more play. Maybe mom seems like the fun person now. My Boxer loves me, but he adores my husband, my Boxer works for me, but he plays with my husband with an exuberance that exceeds his behavior when he's with me. I am jealous, but when I leave the room, guess who my Boxer is looking for, me! The Alpha in any relationiship to a dog is respected and loved, but more respected. The Beta dog, plays with all the other Beta family members because they probably don't reprimand him. Watch your body cues, facial expressions and stature when you greet your dog. Be fun, be loose and he will understand you are trying to play and that you want his attention too.

By taking wonderful care of him. Feeding, watering, walking, petting, playing, cleaning up the yard after him. Dogs love the one that takes the time to care for them and shower them with love. :) If he is acting a lot different I wonder if he is feeling his usual self? Perhaps something is wrong and he needs to see the Veterinarian. Good Luck and treat your pets well!

I know too. As what I know of.. Play with you cute doggy whenever you have spare time instead of playing on the computer or TV. And hug him as he will jump when you come home to him once more. TLC is always the best thing to say, but keep your discipline straight.

well i think you need to put more details, but i hope i can help. well first of all you need to rebond with your dog, and you do that by spending time with your dog, you might have done something to the dog that hurt its feelings. well try this everyday at about the same time pet your dog through out all of its body, dont say anything just pet the dog, after that you might want to talk to him/her they like it when you talk to them, and of course try spending more time with your dog, play more and the most important try to make that bond strong.
well i hope my answer helps.

dog is a very sensitive and intelligent creature actually. Maybe you rarely seen at home, or yor mom who feed and play with him every day? If you want to win him back, try to give him more time, active with his life - playing, feeding, caressing him. Do it continuosly! Hope he is back to you again!!

Your mom must have done something that you used to and stopped doing...Just love him and don't throw stuff at him..maybe give him a treat every time he comes into your room if that is what you want.
