I think they are not on birth control because they are too embarassed to ask their mom to take them to the doctor for it and therfore if they are too embarassed then they should not be having sex in the first place or they think they will not get pregnant and that is why they don;t think twice about birth control.

If you are having sex you should use some form of birth control cause if your not then your just asking to get pregnant.

Probably because they would need their parents help to get the birth control and they don't want to admit they are having or considering having sex. They just don't think ahead about how hard it will to admit they are having or fathering a child.

That is a good point but maybe they should be aware of S,T,D and maybe they are but then again parents are reminding them so much about AIDS and the thought of them doing anything to there parents well then you have this guy he is a boyfriend that is telling them that they will use a rubber and then oops a rubber broke or I thought I could pull out in time all because of us parents are so scared of are kids and we forget to trust them and want them to trust us to the point that they can't even talk to us. I think we as a parent needs to start talking to are kids and build up that trust so they can ask us questions like if it does happen what should I do or Dad I need you what am I to do. think ABOUT ALL OF THIS.

There are many reasons, physical and social.
1) They are afraid to ask their parents about it because it means admitting that they are having sex or want to have sex
2) They don't want to deal with the potential side effects
3) They can't afford the medication
4) Using a condom isn't "cool" or they feel "it ruins the moment"
5) Too many false myths about sex, such as "you can't get pregnant your first time"

In some cases, the parents don't want them on it. To them it means they are having sex. I was put on it for medical reasons, and my mom said, "Just because you are on it doesn't mean you can go have sex." I think parents need to talk to their children and let them know everything when it comes to sex and birth control- aids, stds, pregnancy even if on the pill, etc. etc.

Because they are afraid to tell their parents that they need or want to be....and they don't know that there are places you can go for it even without a parent....and it is sad. This is why there are so many dumpster babies, abortions and such....

'Cause they don't have a clue what they're getting themselves into. They know about the risks probably, and the pregnency, and what not, but they forget about that all when it actually goes down.

one reason and a good one could be that they dont have that bond with their parents, so they really dont get warned how BIG the consequences are.
some think they are "bab @sses" and nothing can happen to them.
