It kinda sounds like a tick. When they are fully engorged, it is very hard to see the legs. It may be a cyst or small tumor. Wouldn't hurt to have it looked at. It might need to be removed.

It sounds like a tick, but as dogs get older, they begin to develop warts and sometimes they are gray in color. You should go to a vet because the growth could be a skin cancer. It would terrible if it were a cancerous growth that could have been removed and you didn't do anything.

My dog got a cyst on her head and it was bulbous and smooth...we had to drain the liquid out of it but my mother is a vet and we did it at home..if you are really worried take your dog to the vet. It might be a tick that is just burrowed deeper than most...oil will take it out (i've heard).

I do hope I am wrong, but could it be a plastic "BB" from an air gun? there are some folks around who might find such a thng as shooting a dog fun :(
Depends on how "soft" it is, but gray, smooth, small and shiny just made me wonder.
If you have a digital camera, it might be helpful if you could pop a photo up and then edit your question to include a link to the photo?

Get her under some good lighting and look again. If you are sure it is not a tick then you should bring her to the vet tomorrow for a check. It could be a smaller variety as well, best to bring her in either way. good luck

My dog has what are called "skin tabs" around his eyes, it could be one of those, which are harmless, just like a mole or a wart on a human. Alot of older dogs get these on their head and face for some reason, but its nothing to worry about. If it seems to be growing bigger over time or changing color you might want to bring her to the vet.
