No way to accomplish that. Labs are just big shedders. You may want to buy one of those spring loaded children's gates and keep the dog in the kitchen where you can simply sweep up the hair and restrict it to one room. There are non shedding breeds of dogs, but most folks just aren't in love with poodles and schnoodles.

If I were you, I would take my dog to the vet. I'm not suggesting that your dog's shedding is abnormal at all, but If you can find a serum or pill (like one from one of the sites I'm about to reccomend you), you could take your dog to (or simply call) the vet to see if it's safe and the right choice for your dog.
A tip I have to keep your house less "hairy" is to only allow your dog in a portion of the house, say, the kitchen and the living room, or (easiest) just the kitchen, because it's easier to clean. If you have a smaller kitchen though (and obviously a bigger dog), you should allow your dog into another room also. (So in the colder months, when your dog can't go outside as much, he/she'll have more space to frolick all day long.
You can put up safety gates to restrict your dog from other rooms of the house. They may seem ugly and inconvienent, but you can actually find some pretty nice ones out there! :)
Good LUck!

Regular brushing and grooming. Labs are known for their shedding. I doubt the dogs are shedding so horribly that your vacuuming ever 20 mins..if thats so then somethings obviously wrong with ur dogs and you should see a vet. Is it warm by you? That could possibly be making shedding worse. Its also just that tiem of the year. They tend to shed in spring and fall....

Unfortunately, these dogs are rather large and they shed pounds of hair morning noon and night. Your best bet is to make sure you feed them a good, complete dog food, this helps to minimize the sheding, but DOES NOT eliminate it. Brushing everyday can help, and if your dog will tolerate it, try vacumming directly. I once had a cat (persian and long haired himilayan sp) and I got him used to the vacum and it made my life easier as he used to just sit and shed PILES of hair leaving rings everywhere. It helped considerably, but I must say, getting him used to the thing he normally hissed at and run from was no easy task. Good luck with yours!

I hae a black lab too. the labs have a double coat (the water dogs that they are) brush the coat often. There are some different types of brushes out there. one looks like a metal loop with teeth..also make sure they are on a good dog food for the coat.

I have 2 white cats and (and a poodle - he doesn't shed, lol...
Here's what works for me after trying gadget after gadget:
1. Plain old yellow rubber glove to get hair off furniture/drapes/clothes. Just put it on and wipe over whatever you're trying to get the hair off of.
2. Once a day brush the dog down real good - OUTSIDE. (after potty time might be a good time to do this...) Then you can pet him with the same yellow rubber glove to get any strays!
3. I have a dustbuster in every room!
4. I got rid of my carpeting & put down tile & area rugs.
You might also want to consider getting dark slipcovers for the furniture. There will still be as much hair, but it won't be as noticeable. Good Luck!

I have a lab also and I try to brush him outside as often as possible to get all the shedding hair off and keep it out of my house. There really isn't any way to keep your house hair free if you have a dog, you could try vaccuming the dog, they sell brush attachments at some pet stores.

Think you've got shedding probs? Try living with an Aussie Shepherd. There's no way (NO WAY) to control shedding. If he's a house dog, get used to sweeping up dog hair every...single...day.
