It is definitely possible at her age. You may not see any discharge or bleeding at all. She could have a silent heat. That is when it is hard to pinpoint the cycle because the normal signs are not there. Definitely keep the two apart! Getting her prego now could seriously harm her. She needs to grow all the way first. When a ***** is in heat she goes through several phases. Aside from blood in the urine and spotting of blood left where she has been, she will get very moody. She can get very mean and snap at your male. She will also tease him. She will throw her butt in his face and when he shows interest she will whip it away from him and chase him around playfully. Make sure you get her fixed or keep them apart for now. Most Vets won't spay until 6mos of age, but some do it at 5 mos. I wouldn't breed before a year and a half of year. Good luck.

It was a good idea to separate the dogs. A female dog can have her first heat around 5 to 6 months old. She becomes agitated, whines a lot, and might crawl close to the ground instead of walking. The blood-like discharge appears soon afterwards. I suggest you go to the pet store where you can buy a special diaper for the dog. This will keep her from marking everywhere and help prevent any male dogs from getting close to her.

Your IG is very close to being of spaying age. Many vets will do it at 6 months. If your male is fixed, then there isn't too much to worry about. Keep her safe and make sure she can't escape to outside.
If this is your first IG, make sure you read up on complications from anesthesia and pain killers. They have very sensitive systems that can react to painkillers like Rimadyl and may not tolerate the same amount of anesthesia that similar sized dogs can.
Good luck to you and your little iggy! : )

If she is in heat, her vulva will be very swollen and she will bleed. It could be that she is just getting ready to come in. Sometimes the male will sense it before they actually show any symptoms. If she isn't swollen, I wouldn't worry yet, just watch her closely. I had a chihuahua that had a short heat cycle at 4 1/2 mo and another at 7 mo, so it does happen.

Yes, she is probably going into heat. They begin giving off signals your male can detect 7-10 days before the actual discharge starts. You might want to consider moving up your spay plans.

it's very possible she could be in heat. dogs and cats don't have to be 1 year old to reach sexual maturity, they usually reach it at about 6 months or so. if i were you i would do exactly what you're doing - keep the male and female 100% separate until the female's cycle is done and get both dogs fixed asap!

No you need to shop the male away. they're fetile from about 4+months the vet informed me that which i did not imagine might want to be yet vets do understand ultimate. purchase a dogs cage and shop the male or female in it and turn them about giving them seems of the cage. you won't be able to enable them mate! Its extremely undesirable for the female. She is virtually guarenteed to have issues. The domestic dogs would finally end up lack of life and also you may want to even possibly lose your female chihuahua if she is youthful :( The domestic dogs would properly be breach, they'd also get stuck and then might want to you be able to pay all that money for a C-section! its extremely extreme priced. the rigidity for the dogs in labour aswell on the more youthful age, if a domestic dog were given stuck and also you may want to no longer get her to the vet in time goodness knows what might want to ensue on your little *****. i understand its perplexing. My chum has 2 chihuahuas a million male a million female and he or she had to shop them away. The chihuahua is two now and at present has a domestic dog at 5 weeks old! the female chihuahua that had the domestic dog did have 3...a million develop into breach and were given stuck slightly yet they managed to loose the domestic dog in time notwithstanding it develop into too previous due. the different domestic dog develop into 2oz and develop into basically too small to make it. yet she has the only domestic dog left and he or she is giant! also she has 3 yorkshire terriers 2 female and a million male one female yorkie has 2 chorkie domestic dogs the chihuahua were given the yorkie and by no skill the yorkie! lol. in case you may want to then it would want to possibly be better effective procuring a domestic dog pen. i might want to DEFO recommend procuring a dogs cage or a domestic dog pen. There very useful and inspite of the cages its perplexing. yet you favor to shop him away. also the domestic dogs will be disformed and better issues as there brother and sister. might want to recomend you to get one among them finished. You cant breed brother and sister the domestic dogs would properly be deformed and that i'd not take the prospect! notwithstanding the cages will make it a lot less stressful or the playpen yet you nonetheless elect to be better careful. she will be able to be in warmth for 4 weeks. wish this helps. strong success holding them separate. Mwah/.x

One week going in=strange behaviors, licking.
One week in=bleeding, excessive licking and boys hanging around, vaginal swelling, impregnable possibilities.
One week going out=less blood, boys still hanging around, swelling subsides
Spay anywhere from $40-$200
Not having an unwanted litter...
Priceless!
