After reading all of the answers and looking at your pictures, I would suggest that you try to get the item shown on Hugos' website. They will do the job with the least amount of damage and hold the towel rack firmly. The little grey weird thinge are called plastic rawl plugs and work this way: You make a hole in the sheetrock a little bit smaller than the plastic rawl plug, push it into the hole so it is flush with the wall, then hold the towel rack in position and screw the screws into the rawl plug. (you should have gotten a cardboard or paper template to locate the hole location) The item Hugo spoke of, works almost the same way. Once you put it into a hole and insert and tighten a screw, the screw pulls the back of it foward and against the back of the sheetrock. The picture shows what it looks like after a screw is inserted . When you buy it, it will be straight, like the "thingy" in your picture, so you can push it into the hole. "When all else fails, read the instructions!" Good luck, have fun.

If the bracket is metal there is a small screw on the bottom of the wall bracket, it takes a small screw driver about the size used for eye glasses. Unscrew this and the bracket will come off. There is a metal square that is screwed in the wall. Easy once you find the small screw on the bracket.

There should be a set screw either in the top or bottom of the bracket(s) that hold the rod. Loosen and the towel bar will come apart.

Don't use those kind of anchors - they're junk. Either use toggle bolts or EZ anchors (EZ anchors look like very wide thread plastic screws). This is a weight-bearing thing you're installing. Those anchors will never work. Screw into studs or use the two methods above.

there should be a small hole on the underside of the bar holders--it will have either a flat head screwin it or a screw in it that needs an allen wrench
