Be positive is not aiming very very high target. We want to identify our capabilities and our limitation.

As example I am Sri Lankan. If I wish to be precident of U.S.A its not positive target. But If I aim at presidency of Sri Lanka and work hard it is defenetly will come ture.

Be positive is aiming capable targets and working for achiving it. But be satisfy what you presently have.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy often advocates the use of positive thinking as a way of changing your life for the better. If you think positively about situations then you are more likely to respond in a positive way, to use the maths test example that everyone else seems so fond of... A boy thinks that he will do well in a maths exam if he studies, he then approaches his study as a way of succeeding and is rewarded with a passing grade... This can equally be applied to most other things in life if you think it will work out okay, it probably will and if you think that the worst will happen, well what is the worst anyway and is it really likely to happen and can you get over it if it does?
My husband has bi-polar and I have helped him to use this to look at the things that cause him stress and to react to them in a positive, realistic way rather than letting them get him down. He has found this way of thinking to be life changing as it has helped him react to even fairly major traumas in a cool calm and collected way.

Waht happens is that the way you think determines the way you feel and the way you determines the way you act. I´ll make up an example so you can understand. If a boy has a math exam and he starts thinking " I´ll probably loose that exam because math is hard and I wont be able to pass it, probably because he is alredy thinking he is gonna loose, he´s not gonna study hard enough or he might even not show for the exam because in his mind he is going to loose. On the other hand if he starts thinking It´s gonna be hard but I can make it then he might start studying and preparing himself for the exam. So I definitively think positive thinking works.

People who tend to "think positive" often know the downside to the situation, they just prefer to blind themselves with happy thoughts. Because pretending its not there will make it go away, right?

A situation isn't going to change because of how you think of it, what happens happens. Keeping to someones elses example, if a kid goes into a test saying he is going to do well, but really doesn't know the material, he isn't going to do well no matter what he thinks, is he?
Actions are stronger than thoughts.

But people tell me Im too negative.
So theres an opposite opinion for you.

It only matters if it works for you though. What works for one person won't always work for another.

Absolutely! You are what you think you are. You talk negative to yourself (for instance, I'm dumb, I'm dull, I'm ugly) and that's the way others will see you. If you give yourself some good healthy and positive self-talk....I can do anything I want to do; I'm strong; I'm healthy; I can be beautiful today; I can give of myself....then that's what you will be. Attitude is everything. Try it cause it doesn't cost a thing. Godloveya.

it does. when utilized in the right manner. thinking positive is one thing... making things happen is another. i am a type A personality... that means i am easily irritated when things don't work out my way... so i try to focus on something else that happened to me during the day that is good... it helps alleviate my anger and relaxes me...
