Do we believe in pergatory? I used to, but now that I think about it...everyone who has had a near death expirience has either gone to heaven or hell, never pergatory. I dont even like to think there is a pergatory.

Nothing imperfect can enter Heaven. If there is no Purgatory, tehn all of us will be winding up in Hell.

Purgatory is proof that God is all merciful. To deny that there is a process called Purgatory is to deny the mercifullness of God.

Yes.

The concept of purgation is hinted at in the Bible. Here are a couple of places:

"But if someone's work is burned up, that one will suffer loss; the person will be saved, but only as through fire." 1 Cor 3:15

"So that the genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold that is perishable even though tested by fire, may prove to be for praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ." 1 Pet 1:7

Are you perfect now? Most people would say no.

Will you be perfect in heaven? Most people believe yes.

Purgatory (or purgation) is the process of God's love changing our imperfect selves on earth into perfect beings in heaven.

Depending on the amount of change needed by different people, this can be an easy or slightly harder process.

Everyone in purgatory is on his or her way to heaven. I do not think Mother Teresa of Calcutta had a very hard time of it.

With love in Christ.

Catholics do believe in purgatory. Why? The best why I can explain it is with an example. Imagine there is a man who lives most of his life as not a moral person, cheats on his wife, looks at pornography, etc. But at the end of his life he converts. Now when he dies, even though God has forgiven all his sins, if you were him, would you feel worthy to stand before him with all the things you've done? I would think not. Purgatory is a cleansing state. It prepares our souls to become perfect when they enter heaven. It really is a hard concept to grasp, but I would think it would be narrow minded to seperate all of humanity into heaven and hell. Purgatory provides a place for all those who were not the best of people, but not the worst either. I hope that answers your question.

There is no such thing as pergatory, saints, transconfiguration, or
an eternal virgin that was married, and had children the normal way, with her husband, or a trinity or triune god in 3 persons. It is all a big lie. If these things were real, why is there no mention of them in the bible? The apocrophia is the uninspired by God, version, and Catholics and maybe Greek Orthadox, use it.

How do you know there is a hell or heaven, much less a purgatory? How do you know you are not in hell as soon as you were born. Think about it, since no one can really tell you or show you heaven or purgatory, then you can only believe in hell where we, all the living, are now. Don't neglect this, just look around at all the killings, crimes, immoralities, corruptions, and other people trying to take things away from other people.

Yes, catholics have to believe in purgatory because it is a doctrine of the faith. All catholics must believe all of the doctrines of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic faith because, if we could pick and choose we would be no different than the protestants.

We received the doctrine of purgatory from the Jews. Orthodox Jews today still believe in a purgatory-like state after death, but they don't call it purgatory. Contrary to what many say, the Bible has much to say about purgatory. The first generations of Christians even wrote about it - no, it was not made up in the Middle Ages despite what the Dan Brown's out there try to say.

To read what the Early Christian Fathers wrote about purgatory, check out these pages from my website.
