My boyfriend from the UK wants to call me and he is having trouble trying to call my number. He's tried +1, plus my area code and phone number and it won't work. My parents won't let me call him since it'll be a long distance charge on the phone bill. Sooo... what other methods, ways can my bf call me by dialing my number??

The international access code in the UK is now 00 and the country code for the US is 1. So to call 1 603 555 7704 in the UK you dial 00 1 603 555 7704.

In the UK my cell phone did accept the + as the international dialing code, so I'd just call +1 603 555 7704. But I never could call the US from an Orange phone.

By the way, with AT&T I'm paying 7c/minute to the UK and on Cingular I pay 5c/minute. You could also buy a phone card, some of those are down to just a couple of cents a minute for calls to the UK. The link below is just the first card I found, but that will give you 3 hours for $5.

Consider Skype as a way of talking with him.

But from the UK he should called 001-Area Code-Phone Number.

So if you live in Southern Virginia he would call 001 276 555-555.

He should also get a good calling card to save money.

Seriously though try Skype.

When I used to call my friend in Kansas (she has now passed away) I used to dial 001 before her area code and then her number, so the number I dialed was: 001 785 742 ****

Don't forget that if you have any Instant messenger on your computers (assuming your boyfriend has a computer) that you can voice chat with someone directly that way without having to pay anything other than your normal internet charges...you can also see them at the same time!

You dial 00 to call out from UK
You dial 1 to call into US
then your area code & number so its 001........

(the + means the international dialling code out from the country you are in which can change obviously)

Well, technically yes, but it's usually meant in jest. Even if they called you a Yank in an argument it's not exactly the most scathing thing they could say, right? It's no worse than a southerner calling you a "damned Yankee." I can think of any number of other things to call someone if I really wanted to insult them.

did he call your house phone or you cell? tell him to try calling your house. is he using a phone card? When I was in italy I had to go through the operator to make a long distance call. sometimes you have to dial an extra set of numbers to actually get out of the country.

If dialing directly from his phone, he dials 001 area code and number.

Have him dial 001 plus your area code and number.

That should do it!
