Since Christianity is an interpretation of the Bible couldn't it be, since most Christians haven't read the Bible, that they are being controlled? And lied to by the priests and pastors? Similar with the Qur'an, which mind you has never been translated to English but many non-arabic reading Muslims would die for what they think it says?

most arent being controlled, but are in a possition to be manipulated. Orthodoxy is just a step above cults, which try to do more damage in less time. reading the Bible with an open mind can actually reveal that alot of the churches notions arent in there at all and whats there tells a completely different story. Like a goldfish in a shark tank, those who are strong in spirit will inevitably be led into darkness by those with strong Egos.

How astute of you to have figured this out. Even if a person has read the Bible, holy spirit is necessary to be able to truly comprehend it and since many priests and pastors use God's word as a source of income, they don't have it either. The Bible says, however, that if a person really digs for the truth with a sincere desire to know the truth, it can be found. How wonderful for all of us (and them) if more people would at least try.

Yes the leaders have had a big responsibility in corrupting the mind of their followers, but is also the individual accountable for not using his mental faculties to discern the falsehood

The world is “alienated from the life that belongs to God.” (Ephesians 4:18) Not that people no longer believe in God or that they have become completely godless. One newspaper columnist put it this way: “Instead of godless, let’s invent a new word: less-God. Less-God people want credit for believing in the Deity while they simultaneously keep Him in a box, letting Him out only on Sunday morning and never allowing Him to impact their political world view or their personal lives between Sundays. [They] more or less believe in God but don’t think He has much to say about modern society.” Paul put it this way in his letter to the Romans: “Although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God nor did they thank him.” (Romans 1:21) Every day we see people who go through life with no thought of God whatsoever. Certainly, they give no honor or thanks to him.

According to what I've heard, 98% of the world population owns a Bible or part of it.

In just three verses, Ephesians 4:17-19, Paul thus uncovers the true moral and spiritual state of the world. He points out that the ideas and theories advanced by worldly thinkers and the relentless pursuit of wealth and pleasure are completely unprofitable. He makes clear that because of mental and spiritual darkness, the world is in a moral quagmire, sinking ever lower. Finally, because of self-imposed ignorance and insensibility, the world has become hopelessly alienated from the life that belongs to God. Surely, we have good reasons not to go on walking just as the nations also walk!

We are all responsible for the integrity of our own spiritual journey but have to rely on an authority as not all of us can be one. We do this as part of every day life all the time (why do we have elections). It's just a matter of making sure you have considered the options and have made an informed decision about what you listen to.

I would think that if you were a Christian that you would not follow blindly and read the Bible for yourself. However, I believe that their are a lot of people out there that get taken advantage of by people that call themselves religious, whatever religion it may be.

You are absolutely correct, about everything you said. Most christians have not read the bible ,I knew one who refused to.She just kept saying "God said," this and "God said", that, but what she meant was "my preacher said"this or that, here's my question let's say the preacher isn't intentionally misleading anyone,he tells people in his church exactly what's in the bible ,how does he know what God said,Does he know God?Are they on a first-name basis with each other,do they hang out and watch foot-ball and eat pizza with each other ?No, he's just a man in a fancy suit and he's never actually seen his god do anything.

I have had an English translation of the Koran for years. Who told you it was never translated?

Also they are not being lied to. If someone believes that what they are telling someone is true, it is not a lie even if they are misinformed.

love and blessings Don

Of course, the vast majority of xians have no idea of the horrors of the old testament. When you describe them they tell you you are crazy. They are definitely being told a "selective" story if not being outright lied to.
