Good question. These items haven't been in use long enough to really say how long they should last. In other words, they are certainly holding up at least 5 years or more. Sandisk and Lexar have limited lifetime warranties on their premium products, in case this is a concern for you.

As any electronic component ...yes... will wear in time. But should be OK for at least 5 years.
Try do not touch the pins ...on SD cards the pins are exposed.
Try to fill-up the card (up to 100%) that so will show 0 (zero) bytes available. As a result of this, in time, will wear even all memory cells. Is a good idea for big card like 2Gbytes.

No they don't wear out as such, as there are no moving parts. The only thing that can wear is the gold contacts and then only if the card is plugged in and out frequently.

Apart from that they are like a light bulb, some last a week others last 20 years.

no not at all i suppose they can get wear and tear if they arnt looked after but if they stay in your camera they should last for years but take this advice they are easy to lose such a little card easy to misplace so the best idea is keep it in the camera take it out to print pics then put it straight back
