My middle brother had/has ADHD, nobody knows anymore, but now he's 23 going on 24. He's never lived outside of my parents house except when he was too drunk to make it home. Now, he's a full blown alcoholic; refuses to quit; has to drink a 12 pack just to go to sleep everynight. He invites all these friends over that my parents don't want there and when they tell them all to leave, my brother gets mouthy, and violent towards my parents infront of everyone and acts like a total idiot(i'm in another state so I can't really help). He knows my father won't do anything because my dad has a $300k a year job and he's not about to go to jail for beating my bro's ***. Cops won't take him. Dad has been in the hospital twice for stress related chest pain due to that idiot. He destroys property when he gets all pissed off because he knows he doesn't have to pay for it. This is ******* retarded. How do you get a dipshit, loser, lowlife, ****** like this out of your house...permanently?

Wow! I used to work in a clinic that held therapy for substance abuse clients and mental health issues. You parents should be able to have him removed from the home because he is of age. If he lashes out at your parents etc they should call the local police and ask to have him removed or press charges as awful as each choice sounds to protect themselves. Have they thought of rehab for him and giving him the choice of going or moving out? Your parents do not deserve to be mistreated and disrespected and you shouldn't have to be worried all of the time when you might get a phone call about someting happening to him or your parents. I hope it gets resolved!

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do. Your parents have to remove him from the home. If that means they change all the locks when he is out, then it has to be done. They can file trespassing charges if he breaks in. Also, they can get a restraining order to keep him away if he gets violent.

But seriously, this is a problem they created by allowing him to still be there at this age. Your dad has enough money to get a lawyer to get things rolling. Seek law counseling and see what can be legally done.

It would be wise if your parents checked with a good family therapist for professional advice and also with a doctor who understands how ADHD can alter a person's behavior. If nothing changes or improves within a reasonable time your family might be forced to get a restraining order against your brother, but I hope this does not become necessary.

My question is.......why do you say the police won't take him? I've never heard of anything like this. Your mother needs to DEMAND that the police come and get him and then your parents need to issue a restraining order so that he can't return. Maybe you need to leave your home long enough to go help your mother to get him out of the house.

Start eviction proceedings or get a restraining order or an order of protection against him. These aren't instant solutions but they are enforceable by the police. Or call 1-800-662-HELP if you want to try to get him some help.

EVICT HIM through the courts legally, just as if he rented the house. then your parents must remain strong and unmoved by his ploy to make them feel guilty. If he comes back, they must make him leave and call the police each time he returns, after the eviction he is CRIMINALLY trespassing and it is a jailable offense! I gusrantee you he will go to jail if he destroys anyrthing AFTER he has been legally evicted.

doctors have the medication and something has to be brought to the situation to control it, anonymously call the attention to the local family doctor as to what he can recommend

pack everything he owns, call the cops and have him escorted out. have your parents tell him that until he gets help and can straighten himself out that he is no longer welcome in their house.
