well I think that there is some truth to that
When pregnant, a woman often gets sick and they tell her to eat saltines.
I have also heard that bread can settle your stomach.
I know that saltines did settle my ex wife's stomach but I honestly believe that it is a matter of mind over matter.
If some one believes in something enough then I think that it is possible.
Sprite well I just dont know about that carbonation always upsets my stomach.

1. No, it does not.

2. No. It might give a temporary relief if you have gastric problem. On the contrary, it could aggravate the problem. So, you should avoid.

Best thing to do is to do drink lot of liquids (like butter milk) to prevent dehydration. Also it is better to be on liquid diet until you feel better. If you are on the higher side of weight, you could convert this bane to boon. You can easily shed couple of pounds when on liquid diet.

Bread can help because of its spongy texture. It can soak up toxins and other unsavory things in your stomach.

It's the same reason you should avoid drinking alcohol in large amounts on an empty stomach.

Yes, anything with ginger is good and helps to settle the stomach. Have some ginger snaps and ginger tea handy.
