Have to first of all, win dominance over the dog. Sounds crude, but a few "stare downs" will normally do it. If the dog consistently turns away, you are dominant. If the dog stares you down, and shows any signs of aggression, like chewing, biting or peeing on the floor, you lost. Once you are the pack leader, you can start enforcing rules. Be stern in your voice, but not abusive or the dog will rebel. Also, a comfy alternative to the couch would be a bonus. Remember though, your dog just wants to be with the pack, which is you.

nicely letting him on the settee interior the 1st place replaced right into a huge no, yet even along with his lovable domestic dog canines eyes you need to be stern! discipline is the main suitable way and of direction consistency. basically determine you do no longer provide in otherwise he will dominate you and you will locate it complicated to coach him after that. do no longer even enable him on as a in specific cases situation because of the fact it relatively is going to start to bypass downhill from there, have faith me! If he jumps onto the settee sternly say 'no' with a finger pointed at his nostril. Then take him off and shoo him away, if he would not stroll away then lock him in a room for a couple of minutes. Then enable him out, take a seat back on the settee and do it back and back back until eventually he stops totally. If he does finally get it, provide him oodles of interest and treats so as that he's familiar with it relatively is the spectacular situation to do. do basically no longer provide up because of the fact once you ultimately crack it he wont bypass on the settee for something of his existence or an quite long term. If he's quite obedient he would possibly no longer even bypass on the settee once you at the instant are not there.

Do NOT "push" him off. He could land wrong & get hurt. Do NOT spray him with water.....
It's simple... While you are at home, when he tries to get on the couch, put your hand out to stop him & in a strong voice (not loud), tell him "NO". Be CONSISTENT!!!!
When you are not home place the pup where he cannot get to the couch. If you have to purchase a baby gate to confine him to the laundry room, kitchen or a bathroom. Puppies learn quickly, if you are consistent & tell him "NO" it should not take him long to get the meaning of NOT getting on the couch. If you find him on the couch, lift him off & set him in front of the couch & again, say "NO"!!!

I had a problem with my dog jumping up on my bed. I spread news paper all over my bed. She didn't like the sound of the news paper so she would jump right back off. After awhile she left the bed and the rest of the furniture alone. I guess for fear there would be news paper any where high off the floor.

You can't. not for the long term. He may stay off when you're around but will sneak on later. Just put a blanket on the couch.

Your puppy will learn if you teach him. Tell him no when he tries to get on the couch, place him back on the floor, praise him to stay. Continue this and he will learn the couch is off-limits.

squirt him with a water bottle and say NO in a strong voice. if you really don't want him on there, you have to be firm.
